Why You Need to “Do Disney” In The Fall

There are so many magical reasons to vacation in Disney or on a Disney cruise in the fall. We’ve always wanted to go on a Disney cruise but were deterred by the prices. After doing some research we found out it wasn’t quite out of our budget after all.

Halloween on the High Seas is a Halloween themed cruise that begins in Mid-September. In addition to spooky decor, there are costume contests, special drinks, desserts and even more fun surprises that align with the Halloween theme. We chose to book our cruise  this time of year because it was almost half the price of cruises that set sail in the summer.

Another reason to go to Disney in the fall? The Food & Wine Festival at Epcot. We’ll be attending the Food & Wine Festival a day before we set sail. Once you see some of the foods and drinks that are available, your mouth will be watering! Check out some vlogs on Youtube if you’re curious about the experience. It sold us!

A major advantage of vacationing with Disney in the fall is that you get all the magic Disney has to offer and then some! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a special event (dates not yet announced) and worth the extra money. But if you don’t feel like spending the extra money for the party, you still get to experience Halloween themed decorations throughout the park.

I can hear the naysayers now! “There’s no fall in Florida!” They’re kind of right, but if you’re REALLY lucky you might get a cool breezy day. October and November are beautiful in Florida. By that point the mosquitos aren’t crazy, the humidity is lower and it’s not insanely hot. My husband and I were married Mid-October and it was in the mid 70s, breezy and simply perfect. Believe it or not, but in central and north Florida, you’ll see the leaves changing colors, too.

Fall isn’t exactly tourism season in Florida so it’s the time to take advantage of discounted hotels and cruises. You’d probably even be able to snag a great deal on flights. In my opinion, it’s the perfect time to travel – especially to Disney.

If you’re worried about pulling your kids out of school, consider talking to their teachers or principal before you dismiss traveling during the fall. Some teachers may even be open to your child journaling throughout the vacation, writing an essay, or making up their work when they get back. I know for families on tight budgets it can be discouraging to see just how costly vacations can be – so I suggest looking in the fall to see just how much you can save.

Don’t take my word for it, ask my travel agent Charlie. Send him a note and ask him what all you can do to in Disney or on a Disney cruise in the fall. He’s fantastic and WAY more knowledgable on the topic than me!
