Let’s talk about body lotion. I’m a bit of a stick in the mud as I prefer unscented lotion all over my body, but I was intrigued and decided to opt for the lavender scent. I love using lavender with the kids so if I can find a lotion that we all could use, I’m happy. I went through every single ingredient on the list for this lotion and was pleasantly surprised. The “Ugly 5” ingredients are nowhere to be found (which is a VERY good thing). It is paraben-free and vegan friendly. I’m not vegan, but I know I do have readers that are so this is a good option for them!
Since I didn’t want to put this lotion all over my body, I focused it in my dryer areas like my knees, ankles and elbows. I have unusually dry elbows lately so I was eager to try this. While the lotion gave me a temporary moisturized feeling, I was hoping for a longer lasting dryness relief. To be fair, I should probably be using something with lanolin on my elbows because they are majorly dry. However, if you’re looking for a lotion that doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy or oily, but simply refreshingly moisturized, this is a great option. The fragrance is very long lasting and would be a great alternative to perfume. After trying other products from Wicks Studio, I can tell you that Southern Sass is my favorite and when it comes time to purchase another bottle of lotion, I’ll opt for that fragrance. I wish I had smell-o-vision, guys!
Up next is the Dry Oil Body Mist. Oh. Em. GEE this stuff is the BOMB! I’m totally sold on this. I like to keep this in the bathroom so after I shower I can spray it all over. You can use it as a makeup remover or even in your hair. Word of caution if you put it in your hair: spray the oil in your hand and work up from the ends to your roots to avoid any oily patches. I have very damaged hair and this has been a game changer! It is much better than any hair mask I’ve ever used.
I chose the Southern Sass fragrance and it is PERFECT! It is a fragrance that is the perfect mix of wild berry, gardenia, honeysuckle, vanilla praline and amber. It’s Steel Magnolias in a bottle! It’s the perfect size to go with you in your purse too. Since it doesn’t leave you oily it is wonderful for when you’re on the go. In a perfect world I wish that the sprayer could be used at any angle to make spraying the backs of your legs and arms easier, but that is truly a first-world complaint.
Skeeter Retreater is another product that tops the list. First of all, the name is friggin’ adorable! Secondly, it doesn’t contain DEET. In case you didn’t know (because I didn’t either), DEET is very commonly used in mosquito repellent but unfortunately it can be quite dangerous. Studies have shown that it can cause seizures, slurred speech, brain cell damage, skin irritations and rashes. Pretty scary stuff considering I’m trying to protect my kids. I was excited to see that this is a natural way to deter mosquitos.
We are going on a cruise to Cozumel and plan on using the lotion Skeeter Retreater on the kids and the spray for the adults. My kids squirm when I spray them with anything so I prefer to lather them up with lotion. I think that’s a great option, personally. The fragrance is actually refreshing and it helps nourish your skin. A little bit goes a long way so this is another great bargain!
I’ve never been a big bath person but when I decide to take one, I want it to be an experience. This bath oil gives you an experience! The fragrance is so relaxing without being overpowering. I don’t understand how it works, but it mixes with the water, and doesn’t just sit on top like other oils I’ve used in the past. This allows it to actually nourish and moisturize your skin. Best of all, when you’re done it doesn’t leave any residue on your tub. The last thing I want to do after taking a relaxing bath is clean the tub! I gave the kids a bath with it and it was even gentle enough for their sensitive skin. My youngest son has eczema flare ups and while it didn’t make his eczema disappear, it did reduce the redness and provide moisture to his sweet chunky baby legs and belly. I’ve also used this as a shaving oil for my legs and it felt SOOO smooth! As I’ve mentioned, Southern Sass is my fragrance of choice, but since cold and flu season is rapidly approaching, I think the Eucalyptus & Spearmint would be a fantastic option to help clear up your sinuses.
Based on the ingredients, packaging, fragrance and quality, I was expecting the prices to be much higher. I think you’re getting a great quality product at this price point and for that reason (as well as the special promotions) this product will likely make my “Beauty Bargain” list!
Ultimately, I am very satisfied with all of the products I had the opportunity to try. In the future, I’d love to see Wicks Studio come out with a deep moisturizer for those of us with very dry skin that needs extra attention. I think it would also be great to see them come out with shampoo and conditioner. They have many other products in their line right now that I’d love to try including candles (you guys know how much I love candles), melts in the fragrance Tangy BBQ (I’m not even joking!), room sprays and more. Check them out on Facebook and at their website. Stay tuned for my full product reviews on my Youtube channel as well!
