My little boy is 6 months old! I can hardly remember what I ate yesterday but I still remember the tiniest details of his birth. He is doing new things everyday and is always making us laugh. To think we are already halfway through our first year brings me to tears to my eyes.
As of Friday he was 16.8lbs and 26 1/4in long. That puts him in the 25th percentile for his height and weight and in the 40th percentile for his BMI. In other words, he’s normal.
Yesterday was Mother’s Day and while changing his diaper he said “mama”. He hasn’t said it again so it may have been a fluke but I don’t care, it was sweet. He says “mmbaa” all the time & babbles while blowing drool bubbles.
His 2 bottom teeth pushed through and so have his upper lateral incisors. The top central incisors look like they will debuting soon.
He is beginning solids (we are not actively weaning yet). He loves apples, butternut squash, pears, broccoli, carrots & sweet potatoes. We are still breast feeding & offer solids 3x a day or so after he nurses. He has also started to moan while he nurses. I get some fun stares in public when he does that.
We tried BLW (baby led weaning) and it wasn’t for us. With him pushing 6-8 teeth through he has so much drool and chokes on it.
He is very clingy & cries when I leave the room. But I don’t mind, it makes me feel needed. I get sloppy open mouth kisses and I love it!
He sits up very well on his own. Though he isn’t crawling yet, he’s trying to inch worm his way around. He stands up while propped up and seems to understand when I sign “diaper” and “up”.
He can still wear 3-6 clothing but is most comfortable in 6 & 6-9 month clothing. He is in size 3 disposables and size 3 shoes. (He only wears shoes for pictures).
When he wakes up in a cranky mood we take him out to play with the dogs & that cheers him up. He is a big fan of Mickey Mouse, Barney and Doc McStuffins. My husband doing Jumping Jacks always makes him smile too.
Overall he is at a fun age right now. I love watching him explore and learn. He is a beautiful baby boy and I’m so blessed to be his mommy.
